Are you breathing properly?
Are you breathing properly?
Have you ever stopped to ponder this? It’s the most automatic thing for us humans to do. In fact, if you stopped breathing, within a few quick minutes, you’d be “lights out” and nothing more to it.
It’s something we do all day long and it keeps us alive, yet we don’t usually put much thought into our breathing patterns.

In the past week or so, I’ve made a conscious effort to sit and use my breath to stabilize.
In the past week or so, I’ve made a conscious effort to sit and use my breath to stabilize.
Whether it’s on a bus seat, or at home on my meditation cushion, I sit down and for just a few moments, I elongate my breath, visualizing healing green-colored energy entering my nostrils on the inhale. And as I exhale, dark, dense, negative energy leaves my lungs.
The more often I do this, the more I able to pause, deepen my breathing, and use my breath to ground and stabilize.

Paying attention to your breath opens all kinds of doorways to presence.
Many ancient spiritual traditions say the soul is in the breath. It’s a direct way to experience the outside world.
So when you are able to pay attention to it, you become aware of your breath shortens.
If you’re feeling anxious, you’ll notice you forget to breathe, or that you feel short of breath.
And when you feel relaxed, and open, your breathing is easy, wide and spacious. It’s natural to take deep, long breaths.
The clean, open pathways to your lungs. You have health. You have vibrancy. You have a lot of life to share with the world.
Using your breath to experience the world in a more present state of mind is a gift to yourself and to the world. The more present you can be, the more you can find your balance, experience life, and give energy those around you.
Do you have any breathing techniques that you'd like to share with us? I’d love to hear them. What helps you release any tension, let go, and connect back into the moment?
